Where Do The Funds Go

The funds raised through this program will go towards providing essential modifications and repairs to help seniors (60+) in Wilkes County remain safe and independent in their homes. This includes installing locks, deadbolts, and smoke/carbon monoxide detectors to enhance home security; making bathroom modifications like ADA-compliant sinks, showers, tubs, toilets, and grab bars to ensure safe and accessible use; and repairing or replacing windows, doors, and flooring to maintain the home's integrity. Additionally, funds will be allocated to improve mobility through the installation of ramps, grab bars, handrails, and threshold repairs, as well as providing steps and mobility aids. Essential appliances such as electric ranges, hot water heaters, refrigerators, washers, dryers, AC units, and electric heaters will also be funded to support daily living needs. Moreover, BROC offers services like bed bug extermination and provides necessary materials such as mattresses, box springs, and mobility chairs or recliners. By supporting these initiatives, we aim to prevent falls and other accidents that could result in severe injuries, allowing seniors to live comfortably and safely in their homes for as long as possible.
